Q: What are doujinshi?
A: Doujinshi are independently published
fan comics from Japan. Many are parody works, meaning
that the stories use characters from popular Video
Games, Anime, Movies, Books, ect... Doujinshi are
extremely popular in Japan, with hundreds of thousands
in circulation. Many are hard to find due to the
fact that only small quantities of any one doujinshi
are printed compared to manga, which are backed
by large publishing companies.
Q: Why do you have unknowns
for some of the doujinshi information?
A: Currently none of us read Japanese and
for the time being we do not have the ability to
hire outside help to translate every doujinshi we
recieve. If you have additional information on any

Q: What is Yaoi?
A: Our Yaoi Doujinshi are books that contain
sexual pairings between two or more men. Yes an
No. Yaoi tends to lack the hard edge of most conventional
pronographic items. Men in Yaoi tend to be portrayed
as much more beautiful and androgynous.
Q: What is Shounen-Ai?
A: Shounen-Ai is similar to Yaoi however
it does not contain sexually explicit scenes, most
Shounen-Ai are romance books featuring two or more
men.
Q: Why are some of the
doujinshi censored?
A: Depiction of genitalia are illegal in
Japan, therefore most doujinshi artists self censor
their work. However, in recent years the level of
censorship has steadily declined with most doujinshi
now featuring censorship that is hardly noticeable
or almost non-existent.
Q: What happened to the
old site?
A: bdr517.com has switched ownership to a
US based anime store called Ultimate Anime. The
site has been redesigned as part of the new program
to let people know about the changes taking place
Q: Do you take any form
of payment other than Credit/Debit Cards?
A: Of course. We also accept Money Orders,
Personal Checks, and Western Union money transfers,
and any other forms of payment in US Dollars.
Q: Why don't you have [insert
title here] doujinshi?
A: We are more than willing to take special
orders for Doujinshi. However it may be hard to
find certain specific doujinshi since by their very
nature they only have limited printing. It is also
much much easier to take generalized requests, such
as asking to see doujinshi from a series that we
currently do not carry.
Q: Why is shipping so much
cheaper than other doujinshi sites?
A: First, mostly all doujinshi stores online
are based in Japan and international shipping from
Japan is unbelievably high. Second, we use the US
postal service, and all doujinshi shipments recieve
2-3 day Priority shipping. Third, many doujinshi
sellers overcharge on shipping to make extra profit
Q: How long will it take
to receive my order?
A: All orders received before 3:15pm are
shipped out the same day. Orders will take 2-3 days
to arrive after shipment for orders in the US and
4-7 days for international orders.
Q: Can I see another page
scan from [insert title here] doujinshi?
A: Most of the time the answer to this question
will be no. Some times we will be willing to if
there is a very good specific reason other than
just wanting to see more of the book. For Hentai
titles the answer will almost always be no, we have
had people abuse this in the past as a way of getting
free hentai at the expense of our time.
Q: Why buy doujinshi when
I can just download scans of them?
A: Doujinshi artists are not back by publishing
companies, they spend their own money to print and
distribute their books. Selling two or three more
books can be the difference between an artists breaking
even and losing money on a doujinshi that they have
created. This is also why it has been so difficult
to get doujinshi in the US, due to the fact that
most doujinshi artists are angry with the amount
of scans being circulated there. If one person buys
a doujinshi, scans it, and five people who would
have otherwise purchased a copy download it then
we will not purchase any more books from that artists
assuming that they are not popular due to the low
sales.
